How to Add Kumi to Your Home Screen

Kumi does not have a native app yet, but you can add the Kumi website to your phone or desktop home screen as a shortcut, so it launches with one tap like an app.

Why add Kumi to your home screen?#

Kumi is currently a website, not a native app you download from an app store. That said, you can still add the Kumi website to your phone or desktop home screen as a shortcut, so it launches with a single tap instead of you having to type the URL or dig through browser tabs.

To be clear about what this is: it is a browser bookmark or shortcut, sometimes called a web app shortcut, that points to the Kumi website. It is not a native app installed from the App Store or Google Play, and it does not run outside of your browser. What it does give you is an icon on your home screen and a launch experience that feels a lot closer to an app. It is the same Kumi either way, so everything in how to use Kumi still applies.

    How to add it#

The steps are slightly different depending on your device. Pick your platform below.

    Frequently asked questions

Does this install a real app?
Honestly, no. It is a browser shortcut, not a native app from an app store. Kumi still runs in your browser; the shortcut just gives it its own icon and a more app-like launch experience.
Will my progress sync if I use the home screen shortcut?
Yes. Since the shortcut just opens the same Kumi website, your account and progress work exactly as they do when you visit Kumi in your browser.
    Is a native app coming?
Yes, a native app is on the roadmap, though we do not have a specific date to promise yet.
