    This phrase is like offering a soft pillow. It gently suggests an idea. It lets the other person decide completely. This is good for talking to people above you at work. It shows respect.

    This phrase is very polite. '〜てはいかがでしょうか' is even more polite. It shows more respect. '〜たらどうですか' is less formal. It is more direct. If you ask someone to do something for you, use '〜ていただけませんか'. That is a request, not a suggestion.
