    This is like 〜ともなると. But 〜ともなれば is for things that might happen. It means 'if it becomes...'. 〜ともなると is for things that will happen. It means 'when it becomes...'. They are often the same. But 〜ともなれば can sound more formal.

    Don't use this when you are talking with friends. For example, don't say "友達ともなれば" (When it's a friend). This grammar is for very formal writing or speeches. It sounds too serious for everyday chat.
