This word shows someone acts like something they are not. It often means they act in a way that is not right for them. Like a child acting too grown up. Or something looking old when it should be new. It can sound a little critical. But 'furubiru' (to get old) is just a normal description.

Other words are a bit different. "〜じみる" is for when something seems bad. Like acting old. "〜めく" is for when a feeling or season starts. Like spring arriving. "〜がかった" means it has a touch of something. Like a mysterious color. "〜びる" is for when someone or something looks or acts like something it should not.

Don't use this when you want to make a new word. For example, you cannot say "子供びる" (kodomobiru) to mean "to seem childish."
