    This phrase shows that something big happened. It happened after a long time. It was after much hard work. It is like saying 'finally' or 'at last'. It is for important events, not small ones.

    末に is for long processes. The result can be good or bad. あげく is also for long processes. But the result is almost always bad. 結果 just shows cause and effect. It does not mean a long process happened.

    Don't use this when something happens very fast. For example, you cannot say "After opening the door, I went into the room."
