This word is like a chameleon. It changes its meaning depending on who you are talking about. If you mean yourself or 'us,' it means 'let's do it.' If you mean someone else, it means 'I guess' or 'probably.'

This is different from "〜だべ". "〜だべ" means "it IS cold". "〜べ" means "it is probably cold". "〜だべ" is like saying "it is so!" You can also use "〜べ" to say "let's do something". You cannot do this with "〜だべ".

Don't use this when you write formal things. For example, don't use it in a school report. You use this form when you speak. Or, you see it in books or comics when people are talking. It connects to verbs and i-adjectives.

Use this when you want to sound like you are from Eastern Japan. It makes your speech very casual and friendly. Only use it with friends. Never use it with people you need to show respect to.
