This is stronger than '〜やん'. It shows more surprise. It is not polite like '〜やいびーん'. '〜やが' means 'it is'. Its opposite is '〜あらん', meaning 'it is not'. It is different from '〜さー' or '〜やさ'. Those can be used with many words.

Don't use this when you want to say something in the middle of a sentence. It only goes at the very end. For example, you can't say "This is a pen, ya ga, and it's blue."

Use this when you suddenly understand something. You might have a new idea. You might confirm what you thought. It shows you just realized something. It can sound like you are asking, "So it's this, right?"

    Less formal alternatives(1)

    〜やいびーみ

This is a very polite way to ask a question in Okinawan. It means "Is it...?" or "Am I right that it is...?"

    〜だ / 〜だった

This means 'is' or 'was'. It is the casual way to say 〜です and 〜でした.
