    This is different from transitive verbs. Transitive verbs show someone doing something. They use "o" (を) for the thing being acted on. Intransitive verbs show something happening by itself. They use "ga" (が) for the thing that changes.

    Watch out: Do not use "o" (を) with these verbs. These verbs do not take a direct object. Use "ga" (が) instead. For example, say "doa ga shimatta" (The door closed). Do not say "doa o shimatta".

    Use this when you want to say something happened. You do not say who did it. This is good for facts. It can also help you avoid blame.

    This verb shows an action. Someone does something to an object. You often use the particle "o" (を) with the object.

    This is the basic form of a verb. It is what you find in a dictionary. You use it to make other verb forms.

    〜を

    This particle shows the thing that a verb acts on. It tells you what is getting the action.

    〜が

    This word shows who or what is doing the action. It points out new or important information.
