Using '上げる' (ageru) is like putting someone on a pedestal. It shows you respect the person you are talking about very much. It makes your words very humble and polite.

This is different from "〜と存じます". Both are humble ways to say "I know". But "〜と存じ上げております" is only for knowing about important people. Or things directly about them. "〜と存じます" is for knowing about other things. Like the weather or general facts.

Don't use this when talking to friends. For example, don't say "田中さんと存じ上げております" to your friend about another friend. Use this only in very formal situations. Use it when you talk about important people. You are always talking about yourself or your group. You are showing respect to the other person.
