    This is different from "いただく" (itadaku). "いただく" means you humbly receive something. "くださる" means someone above you respectfully gives something. It is also different from "差し上げる" (sashiageru). "差し上げる" means you humbly give something to someone above you.

    Watch out: You cannot use "くださる" when you are the one giving. This verb is for when someone higher up gives to you. If you give to a boss, use "差し上げる" instead.

    Don't use this when someone gives something to a person outside your group. For example, if your boss gives a gift to their friend. The person giving must be higher status than you. The person receiving must be you or someone in your group.

    This word means "to receive." You use it to show respect to the person who gave you something.

    差し上げる

    This word means 'to give'. You use it when you give something to someone important. You also use it when you give something to someone outside your group.
